Halloween Spending & Fun Facts

According to the National Retail Federations (NRF), consumer confidence is high as a result of the strong national economy. Estimates indicate that families are planning to celebrate Halloween this year by spending an average of $86.79, up slightly from last year’s $86.13. Approximately 175 million Americans will participate in Halloween festivities, with projected spending at $9.2 billion, equaling that of last year's record high according to the National Retail Federations and Prosper and Analytics' survey history.

Seven-in-ten Midwesterners, including Missourians, plan to celebrate Halloween this year, spending $78.91 on Halloween costumes, decorations, candy, and greeting cards.

The biggest trend this year is the spending growth of pet costumes according to Prosper Insights Executive Vice President of Strategy Phil Rist.
