MERIC Staffer Returns from Service
in Afghanistan

MERIC welcomes back industry spatial analyst Brock Buerck! Brock serves as a Staff Sergeant in the Missouri Air National Guard, 131st Civil Engineering Squadron and recently returned from a six-month deployment to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.

SSgt Buerck was attached to the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield with a squadron of Airmen from several Air National Guard units around the U.S., including Reno, NV, Springfield, IL, and St. Louis. His work as an Engineer Assistant involves drafting and design, surveying, cartography, and construction inspection. Typical duties while in Afghanistan were surveying new construction, mapping the base infrastructure, and the planning and design of new and future construction on base.

Prior to joining the Missouri Air National Guard, Brock served in the U.S. Air Force, which included two tours in Iraq. MERIC and the Department of Economic Development appreciate Brock’s service and are grateful for his safe return.
