Black-Owned Business By County
There were 36,230 black-owned firms in Missouri during 2012, up from 24,685 in 2007, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2012 Survey of Business Owners. This was a 46.8% increase in the number of black-owned firms in the state. These firms accounted for nearly $2.43 billion in sales and receipts in 2012.
St. Louis County leads Missouri counties with 13,534 black-owned businesses followed by St. Louis City (9,895), Jackson County (7,268), St. Charles County (753) and Boone County (669).
